Frequently Asked Questions

1.  Will my child be graded on his work?
Yes. Tests and worksheets will be weighted and graded providing parents, teachers, and students with progress reports.

2.  How many lessons are there and what is the length of time?
There are 32 events studied and each event is given five lessons of approximately 30-50 minutes. It is intended that a student
will do five lessons per week over a school year of 32 weeks.

3.  For what age is the course intended?
The course is designed for students in 2nd-6th grades just like the Veritas Press history program.

4.  Is the course qualified for the Veritas Press Diploma and Yearly Certification program?
Yes. Successful completion of the course will qualify for the history requirement for yearly certification.

5.  Why are the historic fiction titles and resources optional?
The historic fiction is optional because we recognize that some may not wish to include it in their history study. It should be
noted that it adds a great deal for those who do choose to include it. The resources are not required because the course is
carefully designed to be self-contained, eliminating the need for the outside resources. However, if you love books as we do, you
may want to get several anyway - they will only help reinforce the learning.

6.  Is the course available on CD?
No. It is part of the Veritas Press Scholars Academy and is accessed online only. No need to worry about losing CDs, either.

7.  Can I use the course for multiple children?
Yes, but you will have to purchase a course for each child. The tests, worksheets and responses are for an individual student and
records are kept for individual students.

8.  Do you have other courses?
This is our first course of many planned courses. We hope to have the remaining four Veritas Press history courses completed
     for the 2010-2011 school year.

9.  How does this course compare to a parent teaching the course or taking the course online with a live teacher?
We still believe that nothing compares to a live teacher. However, it is difficult for a parent to teach every child in every subject
in a homeschool. It is also sometimes cost-prohibitive to hire a teacher through Veritas Press Scholars Academy courses or
otherwise. An additional benefit is that the student can do the work whenever he wishes and is not tied down to when a class is
     scheduled.

10. What are the system requirements?
You will need Flash Player 6.0.79 or later. It is free, and you may have it already. (https://www.adobe.com/go/getflash)
(Flash Player 7 or later recommended), and one of the following browsers:
Windows: Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 1.x and later, Safari 3, Google Chrome, Opera 9.5
Macintosh: Firefox 1.x and later, Safari 3
     Linux: Firefox 1.x
